I Owe a Bill
Do not ignore our contact attempts. We rely on communication to find the best way to resolve the debt. If we cannot communicate with you, our options for resolving the bill are limited.
This is a communication from a debt collector. This is an attempt to collect a debt, and any information obtained will be used for that purpose.
Please call us before you pay.
A two-minute phone call before sending a payment helps make sure:
- The account is actually yours
- The balance and itemization are correct
- Your payment is applied to the right account and properly documented
- You understand the payment options available, including arrangements if paying in full isn’t realistic right now
- You walk away with a receipt and a clear record of where the account stands
Your rights when a debt collector contacts you
- You have the right to dispute this debt, in whole or in part, within 30 days of our first communication with you. If you dispute it in writing within that window, we will stop collection until we have sent you verification.
- If you do not dispute the debt within 30 days, we will treat it as valid — but that does not waive any of your other rights.
- On written request within 30 days, we will provide verification of the debt (or a copy of any judgment) and the name and address of the original creditor if it is different from the current creditor.
- You can tell us how and when to contact you, or ask us to stop contacting you altogether. Requests to stop must be in writing.
- We will not call at unusual hours (generally before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. your local time), and we will not call you at work if your employer does not allow it.
- If you have hired an attorney to represent you on this debt, let us know — we will communicate with them directly.
- You can request a copy of our validation notice at any time by calling (503) 472-2194.
Why are we contacting you?
I received a letter
The letter we sent contains the key facts about your account: the current balance, the original creditor, an itemization of charges, your right to dispute, and how to reach the person handling your file. Read it through before doing anything else — most questions are answered in it. When you’re ready to talk, call (503) 472-2194 so that we can assist you with account setup and payment.
The original creditor told me to contact you
Once a creditor places an account with us, we become the point of contact for everything related to it — payments, disputes, arrangements, and updates. They send people back to us so nothing gets lost between two offices and so your payment gets recorded against the right account. Working with us directly also keeps the original creditor from taking separate action on a debt we’re actively resolving for them.
I received a message on my voicemail
If we left a voicemail, it’s because we have an account in our office that we need to discuss with you. We’d much rather have a short conversation than keep sending letters or move the account to the next step in our process. Returning the call usually clears up what the account is about, what’s owed, and what options exist — and it stops the file from progressing while we sort it out. Call us back at (503) 472-2194
I found your agency on my credit report
Our agency appears on your report because an unpaid account was placed with us and reported to the credit bureaus. Please call so we can walk you through what the account is and how to resolve it. One thing to know up front: once an account is reported, we cannot remove the entry — but when the balance is paid, we update the bureaus to show a $0 balance owed. Future lenders looking at your file can see the account was resolved, which carries real weight.
I've been served
Being served with court papers means a lawsuit has been filed over the account. This generally only happens after repeated attempts to reach you have gone unanswered, or after a prior arrangement wasn’t kept. Don’t set the papers aside — there are firm deadlines to respond, and missing them can result in a default judgment against you. Call us at (503) 472-2194 right away. In many cases, there’s still room to resolve the account before the case moves forward, but the window narrows quickly once a suit has been filed.
